Parking assistance

Who hasn't found themselves trying to park in a parking slot and not being able to do so, while other drivers behind get impatient? To avoid this, Franco Sbarro has come up with solutions to make maneuvering easier.

The Robur is equipped with two motorized castors that swivel the rear of the car for easy parking.

Robur small wheels

Two small wheels have been fitted to the rear of the Robur. These descend like landing gear. So, to park in a jiffy, all you have to do is move the nose of the car into the parking space, and the transverse wheels will take care of stowing the rear of the car. You don't have to be an expert to park in town. This ingenious system had been around for a long time (an inventor in the 1920s had proposed an equivalent system, but nobody wanted it), but Sbarro was the only one to offer it in 1988.

The front wheel, like the rear, pivots on itself for easy manoeuvring.

Swivel wheels

The Assystem City Car is a car apart from all the prototypes built by Franco Sbarro. It's a kind of synthesis of everything Sbarro invented in the course of his career. Dual-frame chassis, autonomous drive wheel and rhomboid wheel arrangement. Thanks to this wheel arrangement, the car is surprisingly maneuverable. The front and rear wheels swivel on themselves, offering an unrivalled turning radius. The car can turn on itself.
This swivel-wheel principle was reused by Sbarro in 2017 for the Tracto-sphere and in 2019 on the El Richo prototype.
