Sbarro Golf 300 S - 1983
At the request of Rolland Affolter, Lamborghini importer for Switzerland, who had crashed his Porsche 928 S, Sbarro recovered the Porsche's mechanical components and dressed them up in a VW Golf body. Of course, the latter, made of polyester, underwent a number of modifications.
A Porsche engine
Enlarged wings, new radiator grille, cockpit moved aft to make way for... the engine! The latter is a 4.5-liter V8 developing 310 hp and propelling the car to 230 km/h. For acceleration, count on less than 7 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill, and 26.4 seconds to cross the kilometer mark. Two examples of this car have been built,
differentiated by grille and color.
In brief
1- A Golf with a Porsche 928 engine
2- Front engine, not rear like the Golf Turbo previously built by Sbarro
3- Two examples differing in detail (grilles, taillights, rims, etc.).
