307 Racing - 2002

The Peugeot 307 racing is a 307 XS 16 S for which Espera Pontarlier students have created a large body kit. The kit is well integrated into the Peugeot's lines, and is an example of the very best in tuning.

Wide kit, bold color...

Without reaching the widening values of the Ferrari 550 presented that same year in 2002 by Franco Sbarro, the fender extensions are an example of successful integration. The whole body kit is in very good taste and would have deserved to be marketed. The paintwork is from the Lamborghini color chart and is very eye-catching. The only thing that bothers me is the silver color of the rear-view mirrors, which I don't like at all. All the side windows and the rear window have been tinted a very dark black (which would be illegal today).

... yet modest.

The quadruple tailpipe sets the tone and accentuates the 307's sporty character. However, the engine and chassis have not been modified. As a result, power output remains modest at 110 hp. Given that the wheels are now 18 inches, the car should not be very impressive to drive. Note the right-hand steering wheel (I don't know why).

The 18-inch wheels fill the arches nicely and enhance the look of the 307.

Perfect tuning

Espera's Peugeot 307 Racing challenges preconceptions that tuning is always in bad taste. Here, there's nothing to complain about. The car could have been offered as is by Peugeot dealers. Perhaps with a little more power, though. It was exhibited for ten years in Pontarlier before being sold to a private individual who put it up for sale again in October 2023 at Aguttes, where it was acquired for €4,200, without a registration document.

In brief
1- Tuning based on a Peugeot 307 XS 16S
2- Nice integration of the wide kit
3- The orange color comes from Lamborghini
