Mille Miglia 2006

Following the presentation of the Mille Miglia in 2005, Franco Sbarro received orders for two slightly different examples, which were delivered to their owners in 2006. These cars are not replicas, but they carry with them a nostalgic perfume that makes us regret the financial spirit that reigns over motor sport today.

The red 2006 Sbarro Mille Miglia is the "comfortable" version (photo by Andreas Birner).

Comfort version

Based on a Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, the first version, in red, is more plush with its leather interior and more comfortable seats. Spoked Borrani wheels give it a nice retro look. It takes up the general lines of the yellow 2005 version, with the two bosses at the rear of the seats, two air intakes on the hood and the four rear lights. One notable difference is that the side air intakes, only hinted at on the 2005 version, are now functional. The car had been on sale in November 2023 for a year on the Dyler.com website at a price of €325,360.

Racing version

The white version is more spartan and competition-oriented. It's based on the Ferrari 400, very similar to the 365 GT4 2+2. The customer only wanted one bump at the back of the driver's head. This car was given a blue stripe along its length and around the grille afterwards. It has a different front hood, with a single central air intake. At the rear, there are two lights instead of four. This example was offered for sale on December 10, 2007 by Artcurial and sold for €1,35600.

Seven units?

Some websites speak of seven Mille Miglia built by Sbarro between 2005 and 2013. This figure has not been verified. What is certain is that there was the yellow version of 2005, then the two models at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show (in white and red).

Photographs show another red model with white headlights and a single boss behind the driver's seat (seen on speed8classics.com). I have no information on the supposed three other examples.
