Restart
Restart or new start. The 2019-2020 class was unable to complete its training year due to confinement. Everything came to a halt in March 2020 after the Saetta Rossa, which could not be presented to the public as the Geneva Motor Show was cancelled. So in September 2020, the majority of the students got back to work to propose a complete project: Restart.
Hot Rod
Restart is a neo-retro roadster classically inspired in the world of hot rods by the Ford 32. The car is powered by an Audi V8 recovery engine positioned longitudinally forward. The "in-house" side exhausts are magnificent and add an aggressive touch to the car, as well as a shiny note to the matte-colored bodywork.
Comfort ? No, why?
There are few photographs of the Restart's
interior. But when you see the seats, you think that foam must
have been a rare commodity after the covid. No comfort
elements, just two polyester buckets. A hard cover can be
fitted to the passenger seat when you're on your own.
The dashboard is also minimalist: no speedometer. But you
can't miss the rev counter. Like a Mini, it's a huge round
dial in the center of the dashboard.
Back and scoring!
It couldn't have been easy to return to the Espera school after a six-month break. Twenty of the 24 students left for this project, which was not a "Covid project" but a real project, as has always been the case at Sbarro Espera. The working conditions (fire covers, masks, barrier gestures) were not ideal, but the result is magnificent. And Restart is a rolling prototype that seems to be having a lot of fun, if the drifting and dusty photos posted on Flick'R are anything to go by.
In brief
1- Second project of the 2019-2020 class after a six-month hiatus
2- Modern hot rod with V8 Audi engine
3- Minimalist and Spartan
