Family Dragster - 2001

All those who dream of experiencing the thrills of a dragster can rejoice: Franco Sbarro and his students have thought of them by creating the Family Dragster! Until now, drag racers have been lonely, with no room for children, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thanks to Sbarro, he'll be able to take four members of his family with him, and give them a taste of acceleration that no minivan or station wagon can provide...

With such a size, it's no longer an aileron but an airplane wing!

Aircraft engine

The machine is powered by a generous 27500 cm3 Merlin V12 engine (yes, you read that right, 27.5 liters!) developing some 1,500 horsepower. That's enough for dragster-like acceleration, given that the monster weighs almost 5 tonnes, is 9.5 metres long and 2.80 metres wide. The four passengers are seated at the very rear under the enormous spoiler.

9.5 metres long, 2.80 metres wide and weighing 5 tonnes.

What more is there to say, except that with this Family dragster, Sbarro has hit the nail on the head. A completely mad idea and a wild excess. The Family Dragster was presented at the Essen Motorshow at the end of November 2001 and then exhibited in Pontarlier from 2002.
