his six-wheeled Citroën Berlingo is an
evocation of the famous caterpillar cars used on the Croisière
Jaune organized by Citroën in 1931-1932.
With six
wheels, including four-wheel drive, this Berlingo is a
tribute to the Citroëns of the Croisière Jaune of the 1930s
(Aguttes photograph).
This car was presented at the Paris Motor
Show in October 2000, on the stand of ISCAD (Institut
Supérieur de Formation aux Métiers de Conception). ISCAD is
unique in that its training is complementary to that offered
by the Sbarro schools, which is much more practical and
theoretical.
Ten seats for
this extended Berlingo. Comfort, however, must be basic,
especially on tracks.
The main difference between this Croisière Jeune and a standard
Berlingo is the two extra wheels at the rear. The car, designed
for off-road use with high ground clearance, is a four-wheel
drive (4x6). Its trailer, reminiscent of those used on the
Croisière Jaune, contains tools and grit removal plates. The
interior is extensively redesigned at the rear, with two
retractable side rows seating 4. The car is designed to
accommodate ten people, including the driver.
The Croisière Jeune was auctioned by Aguttes on September 19,
2021 for €21,000.
