Speed'R
Like a magnet
Unlike the Essenza, which was presented on the Montbéliard stand in a less busy hall, the Speed'R enjoyed a privileged position on the Orange stand. This explains the crowds that flocked around this roadster. Add to this a spectacular design, matte paintwork, golden wheels and state-of-the-art hight-tech equipment, and the Speed'R was sure to attract attention. The interior features Recaro bucket seats, a Tabee touchscreen tablet, a domino Orange 3G wifi modem, a Valéo camera and an OCar Oxygen Audio car radio for Iphones.
Polyester
On the mechanical side, there's no trendy hybrid engine, but a good old Alfa Romeo V6, placed in a central rear position. With 210 hp and a weight of just 850 kg, performance (not measured) should be top-notch. The low weight is due in no small part to the use of fiberglass, so dear to Franco Sbarro. In view of such a result, one wonders why this inexpensive material, with its astonishing qualities (light, resistant, easy to work with, usable for small production runs), is not more widely used in the automotive industry for small production runs. Here, it has made it possible to sculpt complex curves that would be impossible to achieve at low cost with more "modern" materials such as carbon.
Provocation?
As for the rest, the photos speak for themselves. The automotive dream exists, and with the Speed'R, far from the fashions of the time and of today, the students from Espera Montbéliard offer an old-fashioned pleasure car, with an old, polluting V6 engine and a provocative, exhibitionist side.
