Aria

Aria is a small, two-seat, front-engine, Subaru Impreza-powered sports coupe presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. More classic than the electric (Intencity) or hybrid (React'EV and Sparta) vehicles of previous classes, Espera students have created a highly desirable vehicle.

Aria, as free as air

The students took the engine and running gear from a Subaru Impreza. They then built the chassis and body around these elements. The Aria's styling is reminiscent of an Aston Martin, only wilder and more brutal. The logo, a capital A for Aria, is reminiscent of the Alpine logo. Hence the idea that designing an Alpine may have been on the minds of the students. A magnificent compact coupe, the light gray and orange colors suit it particularly well.

Composites 21

The interior is well worth a look. Designed by Espera students, the upholstery and trim was created by two Espera alumni, Honorine Pourcher and Matthieu Noël, who set up Composites 21 in Meloisey, Côte d'Or, France at the end of 2011. They had already worked on the Eight and the Royale Event. Very sober, all in grey, with only red stitching and an orange Plexiglas handbrake. The work is remarkable, even if, in my opinion, the beading between the steering wheel and the driver's door is not up to the standard of the rest of the trim.

The interior is finished by Composites 21, a company set up by two former Espera students (photograph by The Automobilist).
