Intencity

The first electric prototype from the Espera school in Montbéliard, Intencity is an innovative vehicle that meets future automotive expectations, presented well in advance of the decision to ban new combustion-powered cars from 2035.

First electric Espera

When you consider that Franco Sbarro has built many cars around particularly thirsty engines, such as the V8 of the GT40, you may be surprised by this electric prototype presented in Geneva in 2012 by Espera Montbéliard students. It's worth remembering that Franco Sbarro created the electrically-powered Carville Pilcar in 1978, and presented the Orbital hybrid in 2009.

First Espera prototype with UTBM

Intencity marks a change for Espera. For several years, the school had been associated with Futura, a semi-public company. Now, Espera has joined forces with UTBM University. The result is a recognized diploma for students. This partnership enabled the development of Intencity in twelve weeks. UTBM's energy and environment department supplied the Intencity's electric drive train, a 100Kw three-phase asynchronous MES motor. The battery is made up of 96 lithium phosphate cells, giving a range of 180 km. The Intencity's featherweight is exceptional: 980 kg for an electric car.

Smooth

Once the engine had been supplied, all that remained, so to speak, was to build the car around it. The body is very smooth, like a pebble, to improve aerodynamics. There are no doors: the roof and windscreen lift forward as a single unit. Spectacle guaranteed. The colors chosen, white and purple, were then changed: the Intencity later became pink, which really changes the car.

The Intencity took part out of competition in the SIA (Société des Ingénieurs de l'Automobile -Society of Automotive Engineers) trophy on the Versailles-Satory circuit in 2012. After Geneva, Intencity was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2012.
