Jumpy Atlante des neiges

Getting to the ski slopes, fully equipped, at the wheel of your car is no easy task. That's why Citroën entrusted Franco Sbarro and his students at Espera with the task of adapting a Jumpy for winter sports.

No doors, no roof, yet the Atlante des neiges was designed for the mountains (photo by Romain Mathieu for Leclere).

From hotel to ski slopes

The Atlante des neiges is a liaison vehicle, i.e. a means of transport offered by your hotel to get you to the ski slopes, so you don't have to take your own car out. In a way, Sbarro and his students have invented... the minibus! But unlike the minibus, you're sitting in the open air, since there's no roof. No big deal, though, as you're already dressed and equipped to face the cold of the ski slopes. There are no doors either: you access your bucket seat from the rear. A total of six people can fit in the Atlante des neiges.

Pick-up

If, by any chance, you don't like winter sports, there's nothing to stop you imagining a version for summer vacations. This prototype, based on Citroën's Jumpy SUV, is powered by a 110 hp 1.6 l HDI diesel engine. Don't let the photos fool you, the car is more impressive than it looks: it's 2.20 m wide! The body is made of synthetic fibers. The wheels are fitted with high-sidewall tires and 17-inch rims.

From the front, with its inflated wings, it looks like a big, chubby cat (photo by Romain Mathieu for Leclere).

Int

The Atlante des neiges sold for €17,920 at the Leclere, Citroën Héritage sale in December 2017, with just 558 kilometers on the odometer: it can't have carried many skiers!
